Tricoat Painting is run by Alex Lewis, based in Thomastown. We're a small, owner-led crew that takes on a handful of jobs at a time, finishes each one to the standard we'd want in our own homes, then moves on. No upselling, no surprise variations, no mess left behind.
Most of our work comes through word of mouth. We've painted hundreds of homes across Melbourne's northern and eastern suburbs — from Thomastown and Reservoir through to Heidelberg, Ivanhoe, and out to Mt Waverley — plus commercial work including Northcote High School.
Alex Lewis, founder
Alex started Tricoat Painting in 2012and still runs every job himself — quoting it, leading the crew, and signing off the finish. He's been painting Melbourne homes since 2008, and he'd rather take on fewer jobs and get each one right than chase volume.

What you can expect
Honest scoping
At the free measure, we'll tell you what needs doing and what doesn't. If a wall just needs a freshen up rather than full prep, we'll say so. If we spot something serious (rust, rot, lead paint), we'll show you and explain the options.
Premium paint systems
Dulux, Wattyl, Porter's — matched to the substrate and the exposure. We don't use cheap paint and bill premium. The paint we use is the paint that lasts.
A finish you can live with
Daily clean-up, drop sheets, tape lines that don't bleed, cut-ins that stay sharp. Painting is mostly preparation — and prep is what we do better than most.
