Consumer Guarantees

Last updated: 1 June 2026

When you engage Tricoat Painting, you have automatic rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) that cannot be excluded, restricted or modified. This page explains those rights in plain English, and sets out the workmanship commitment we stand behind. It works alongside our Terms & Conditions and the written quote for your specific job.

Your guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law

Under the ACL, the painting services we provide come with guarantees that they will be:

  • Provided with due care and skill — carried out competently, using proper preparation and technique.
  • Fit for purpose — suitable for any particular result you told us about before we started.
  • Delivered within a reasonable time — where no completion date is agreed in writing.

Goods we supply as part of the work (such as paint and materials) also come with guarantees — including acceptable quality, matching their description, and any express warranties given by the manufacturer.

If something goes wrong

If our work doesn't meet a consumer guarantee, you're entitled to a remedy. For problems that can be put right, we'll fix them within a reasonable time at no cost to you. For a major failure, you may be entitled to other remedies under the ACL. The simplest first step is always to tell us — see “How to make a claim” below.

Our workmanship commitment

On top of your ACL rights, we stand behind the quality of our work. We use proper surface preparation and quality products so your paintwork lasts, and the specific workmanship guarantee for your job — including its length and what it covers — is set out in the written quote we provide before any work begins. Paint and materials are also covered by the relevant manufacturer's product warranty.

A workmanship guarantee covers defects in how the work was carried out. It doesn't cover fair wear and tear, damage from building movement, moisture or structural faults outside the painted surface, surfaces we advised against painting, or later changes made by others.

How to make a claim

If you're not happy with any part of our work, contact us as soon as you can at alex.tricoatpainting@gmail.com or 0401 577 895, with your address and a description (and photos if helpful) of the issue. We'll arrange to inspect it and put right anything that falls short. We'd always rather hear from you and fix it than have you live with a problem.
