Privacy Policy

Last updated: 1 June 2026

Tricoat Painting (“Tricoat”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, disclose and protect personal information, and how you can access or correct it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). It's written in plain English — if anything is unclear, email alex.tricoatpainting@gmail.com.

Who we are

Tricoat Painting is a residential and commercial painting business based in Thomastown, VIC, servicing Melbourne's northern and eastern suburbs. We are the entity responsible for the personal information collected through this website and in the course of providing our services.

What personal information we collect

We only collect information we genuinely need. Depending on how you interact with us, that may include:

  • Quote & contact details — your name, phone number, email address, property postcode, the type of painting you want, property type, job size and any message or details you give us.
  • Job information — your property address, site notes, colour selections, scheduling preferences and photographs of the work (where relevant to delivering your project).
  • Marketing attribution — the page or campaign that referred you (for example UTM source, medium and campaign tags, and the referring website), so we understand how people find us.
  • Technical & usage information — collected automatically when you browse the site: the pages you view, time and date of visit, your browser and device type, an approximate (city/region-level) location, the referring page, and a one-way hashed version of your IP address. We do not store your raw IP address.

We don't ask for sensitive information (such as health, racial or political information) and ask that you don't send it to us. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

How we collect it

We collect most personal information directly from you — when you submit a quote request or contact form, call or email us, or engage us for work. Technical and usage information is collected automatically through our website and analytics. We may also receive your details if someone refers you to us, or from publicly available sources such as your public Google review.

Why we collect and use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and prepare and discuss a quote.
  • To schedule, deliver, invoice and follow up on painting work.
  • To keep the website secure, prevent spam and abuse, and fix problems.
  • To understand which pages and services are useful so we can improve the site and our service.
  • To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.

If you don't provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to give you a quote or carry out your work.

The service providers we use

We don't sell your personal information. We use a small set of trusted providers to run the website and our business, each with access only to what they need for their role:

  • Supabase — secure database hosting for leads and analytics (hosted in Sydney, Australia).
  • Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
  • Resend — sending the confirmation email to you and the new-enquiry alert to us.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — checking that quote submissions come from a real person, not a bot.
  • ntfy — sending us a private notification when a new enquiry arrives.
  • Google — we display our public Google reviews via the Google Places API, and may use Google Analytics 4 (with IP anonymisation enabled) to measure site usage.

Disclosure overseas

We store lead data in Australia. However, some of the providers above (including Resend, Vercel, Cloudflare and Google) may process or store information on servers located overseas, including in the United States. Where this happens we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies & tracking

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to measure usage. You can control or clear these in your browser at any time. For the full detail, see our Cookie & Data Collection Notice.

Direct marketing

We email you about your specific enquiry or job. We don't send marketing or promotional messages unless you've asked us to, and any such message will include a way to opt out. You can opt out at any time by emailing alex.tricoatpainting@gmail.com.

How we keep it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on our database, hashing of IP addresses, and limiting who can see your details. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep risks low and review our practices regularly.

How long we keep it

We keep quote requests and customer records for as long as we have a relationship with you and for up to 7 years afterwards, to meet Australian tax and business record-keeping requirements. Anonymous or de-identified analytics events are kept for up to 14 months. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

Your rights — access & correction

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or ask us to delete it (where we're not required to keep it). Email alex.tricoatpainting@gmail.comand we'll verify your identity and respond within 30 days. There's normally no charge.

Data breaches

If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

How to make a complaint

If you have a concern about how we've handled your information, please contact us first at alex.tricoatpainting@gmail.com so we can put it right. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version. If we make material changes, we'll make that clear on this page.
